JIH Kerala launches People’s Foundation for sustainable development and service

Kozhikode, 30 Sep 2014: Initiating a new model for sustainable development and service, People’s Foundation was officially launched by Minister for Urban Affairs and Welfare of Minorities, Manjalamkuzhi Ali here at a simple function held at K.P. Keshavamenon Hall. The NGO started its operations last year.

In his inaugural speech, Minister appreciated the functions of NGOs as there are situation when government schemes are not reached at the hands of the commons. Government has been channelizing 1000 crores through these organizations. He also guaranteed that Government will associate NGOs for effective implementation of Government schemes. He demanded Peoples Foundation to take upon certain programmes of the government as democratic systems are not much effective in delivering such projects to the grass-root. He expressed his hope, as Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has been successful throughout its history in making their projects effective; People’s Foundation will do the best.

In his presidential address, T. Arifali, Amir-e Halqa (state president) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Kerala said, such efforts are to be promoted as basis of any service is morality. Number of forlorn is increasing day by day as there are none to take care of them even though provided with all physical comforts. Social empowerment is done only when the deprived are able to build-up their own life. People’s Foundation is aimed to become a model and direct the charitable activities. Society and citizens shall be conditioned to utilize the abilities and opportunities.

Community Empowerment Programme was inaugurated by Munavvarali Shihab Thangal by handing-over related documents to Vaheeda Abdul Azeez.

MK Mohammed Ali, Chairman of Peoples Foundation, did the policy declaration. Dr. P.C. Anwar distributed the wheelchairs for those who are suffering ailments after spine fracture. Siddiq Kallanthode, renowned palliative volunteer, received them.
