Jamaat to Establish Chapters of Sadbhavna Manch Across the Country for Strengthening Communal Harmony

New Delhi, 07 July 2015: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has given a clarion call for strengthening communal harmony by establishing local chapters of “Sadbhavna Manch” across the country. Secretary General of Jamaat Mohammed Salim Engineer said that with the rise in communal incidents and unceasing provocative statements by communal elements, it is imperative to contain the divisive agenda of fascist forces by working for communal harmony at local level. He was speaking on the occasion of Jamaat’s monthly press conference which was followed by Iftar and Dinner.

 

On the occasion, Jamaat released their policy and programme for the new term April 2015- March 2019 which showcases the various activities which the Jamaat will undertake in the next 4 years.

 

 

Addressing the mediapersons, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind highlighted the importance of Ramadan in the life of a Muslim.

 

“Ramadan is the month of compassion and solace. This month make awareness and feeling towards the destitute persons’ hunger and economic difficulties. In this month, you should help those who are suffering from poverty or facing economic problems and fulfil their needs, said Maulana Umari.

 

 

Other leaders of the Jamaat present on the occasion included Nusrat Ali, Vice President, Mohammad Ahmed, Secretary, Arshad Shaikh, In-charge, Media Dept. and Ejaz Ahmed Aslam.

 

 

Highlights of the Policy & Programme 2015-2019:

 

1.   SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF MUSLIM COMMUNITY: With the formation of a new government at the Centre, after the parliamentary elections of 2014, it became imperative to make efforts towards protecting the lives and property of Muslims and safeguarding their cultural and religious identity.

 

2.   DAWAH: Preaching and propagating the message of Islam is one of the basic and regular activities of Jamaat. Efforts will be made to clear the various misconceptions about Islam.

 

3.   NATIONAL AND GLOBAL ISSUES: Efforts will be made to strive against communalism and fascist forces in the country. Peace, justice and equality will be promoted and deprived and depressed classes will be supported. Efforts shall be made for fostering value based politics and to save the country from the clutches of global imperialism, capitalism and aggressive nationalism.

 

4.   COMMUNAL HARMONY: Efforts will be made to establish Sadbhavna Manch at local level to foster friendly relations between communities and establish a climate of tolerance and understanding.

 

5.   WOMEN AFFAIRS: Jamaat has for the first time appointed an all India Secretary for Women Affairs who will have her own consultative body (Shoora). They will work for the development and welfare of women.

 

6.   YOUTH AND CHILDREN: Jamaat will pay special attention to its youth and children and make programmes and projects to aid their moral, physical and educational development. Jamaat will utilize its Media House to make small documentaries, films and clips for the youth and children.

 

7.   SERVICE TO HUMANITY: Jamaat shall work for eradication of poverty, sickness, illiteracy, hunger and unemployment. It will provide relief and rehabilitation in times of natural calamities and communal riots. Jamaat will also provide legal aid to the innocent youth who have been detained under false charges.  It will make efforts to help Muslims avail of government welfare schemes for their economic empowerment.

 

8.   ISLAMIC SOCIETY: Jamaat will make efforts to strengthen the family system which is the pillar of society. It will conduct campaigns against the ill effects of alcohol and liquor consumption. Jamaat will try to create 50 liquor free villages and develop around 10 “ideal” villages.

 

9.   ECONOMY: Jamaat will make efforts to promote Islamic banking and establish interest free societies to help the poor and needy with zero interest microfinance schemes.
