New Delhi, 12 March – The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari inaugurated a 2 day workshop for the State Secretaries of Mulki Milli Masail (National & Community Issues) at the Jamaat headquarters.

Maulana said that: ‘Muslims in India have been targeted by a small but influential section of society especially after partition. That section of society has only one aim that Muslims should be crushed. Muslims should lose their religious and cultural identity. Muslims are accused of being a liability on the nation and their patriotism is suspect. They say that only a few Muslims have served the country but in general Muslims are a burden to the nation. It is quite rare for an organization to focus exclusively on targeting a single community. Then the situation today is actually a reflection of the world scenario.

Globally Islam is seen as a threat. Some say that we must not think Islam to be a danger however Muslims are a burden and we should be alert about them.’’ Ameer e Jamaat observed that: ‘’some work needs to be done at the political level and some work at other levels. Protection of life and limb of the community is a grave issue and it impedes the economic progress and development of the community.

We know that when Prophet (pbuh) presented Islam, Muslims were in minority but they continued their work with a lot of courage. Muslim community should learn from that chapter of the Seerah. Today the international conditions are also not very conducive but even in such difficult circumstances the work of Dawah continues and Islam as a way of life is being projected and also gaining acceptance.’’ Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari said that ‘’Jamaat cadre should convey the Islamic perspective and offer Islamic solutions to the national problems.

We have to convey that Islam is the only solution. Islam came at a time when there was corruption, exploitation and moral depravity. How did Islam bring about the change? We must convey Islam to our countrymen. Also tell our countrymen that we are together with you to solve the various problems and issues confronting the nation. The image of Muslims in India should convey that you are most concerned about these national problems and that you have a solution to these problems.

Our solution must be markedly different from the typical political parties. Our character must also be exemplary. These qualities must be present both individually as well as in the Muslim society at large. Muslims must offer solutions to problems of the country but make it a means for introducing the message of Islam. Earlier the Secretary for Department of National & Community Issues – Janab Muhammad Ahmad explained the objectives of the workshop, the topics that would be taken up during the workshop and their importance.
