Complaint against Times Now

September 5, 2017

To,

The Chief Editor

TIMES NOW Channel

New Delhi

Greetings,

The Times Now team had come to the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on the 31st August 2017 and conducted a discussion with its President, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari on certain issues. It would have been desirable if Times Now had broadcast the discussion with him ‘’as it is’’ (unedited) on the channel, thereby exhibiting healthy journalism. But by projecting his status as the Vice President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and the manner, in which the JIH President’s conversation was presented on your channel over the issue of PFI’s interest in love jihad and its inclusion in the Board, is highly regrettable. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, various Muslim organizations and common Muslims have repeatedly given their opinion regarding love-jihad that it is completely imaginary rather than real. It is a total non-issue that has been concocted to malign Muslims, to inflame communalism and derive political mileage. It is regrettable that Times Now too has adopted the method of trying to unnecessarily create suspicion and doubt on Muslims and their organizations over love-jihad.

We hope that a popular channel as Times Now would take cognizance of its responsibilities, would refrain from such ‘negative journalism’ and try to serve society in a more improved and positive manner.

Yours sincerely

Nusrat Ali

Vice President, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind
