Corona Crisis: Message from Religious Scholars

April 14, 2020, New Delhi: “Corona is a national crisis and all Indians, despite their differences in many aspects, need to come together to fight this Pandemic.” These views were expressed by Engr. Mohammad Saleem, National Vice-President of Jamaat e Islami in a unique online program that brought together various religious heads on one platform under the title “Corona Crisis: Message from Religious Scholars” that was transmitted online nationwide on 14 April at 7.30 PM. In this exclusive online program, in which ten top level scholars expressed their views on tackling the Corona crisis, Engr. Saleem further added that, “For its own safety, the whole nation needs to abide by the directions of the Government and the Health Department”. He expressed hope that this call by the religious leaders would go a long way in helping the fight against the corona pandemic and that together we all would succeed in saving precious human lives of our brothers and sisters.

All the religious leaders appreciated the effort of Jamaat e Islami in taking the initiative for this unique program. Unitedly they stressed upon the need to follow the guidelines issued by the government and the ministry of health. The advised on the importance of social distancing and the use of mask for protection. in this time of national crisis, they all stressed upon the need to fight this pandemic unitedly without any distinction between religion, caste or creed.

Introducing the program and its concept to the audience, Jb Mohammad Iqbal Mulla, Secretary, Jamaat e Islami Hind said that, “Jamaat e Islami Hind, for the last more than 70 years, has been serving the nation and has done its utmost to alleviate the problems facing the country.” He said that, “This online program was another effort of Jamaat to fulfill its national responsibility to bring the country together in the face of this crisis of immense magnitude.” He also expressed the hope that the whole nation will pay heed the messages of the distinguished Religious Heads.
