Erdogans victory in Turkey good news for world’s peace, democracy-loving people Asif Umar

New Delhi, 18 August 2014: Turkey has presented a new model of governance which though Islamic is equally acceptable to all, said eminent journalist and political analyst Asif Umar Asif while addressing a weekly lecture entitled “The victory of Erdogan in Turkey and Muslim World” at the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind here on Saturday.

Mr. Asif in his insightful speech also said that Turkey is emerging as a social, economic, educational and political force. This is good not just for the Muslim World but all peaceful and democracy-loving people of the world. Directly elected by people, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Rajab Tayyib Erdogan), with his political astuteness, has established a pleasant and exemplary image of Turkey in the world. The respect he has given to the Opposition is also an example for democracy.

Veteran journalist also said that Erdogan’s strategy and statesmanship have strengthened democratic and religious values in the country on one hand, and helped Turkey emerge as a model state in the Muslim World on the other. And that’s how the Sick Man of Europe has become a healthy nation and is being counted as 10th economic power of the world. He stressed that if the present trends continued then this model of Turkey will be worth emulation for the Muslim World and other countries, and it will also encourage Islamic forces working for the cause of democracy in different countries. He hoped that in the upcoming parliamentary elections in June 2015, the ruling AKP party of Erdogan will retain two-third majority and then Erdogan will be able to provide a new constitution whose need has been felt in the changed scenario of the country for last 12 years.

Turkey today has no debt of any international monetary organization on its head; rather it is in a position that it can give loan if needed to such institutions.

This is the reason why the Muslim World is looking towards Turkey with hope and praying for Erdogan.

At the end of the hour-long lecture, the audience asked questions related to the topic and the guest speaker offered satisfactory answers.

On this occasion, eminent English journalist from Patna, Soroor Ahmed also expressed his views.

The program was chaired by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, President (Amir) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and anchored by Secretary of the Jamaat Mohammad Salim Engineer. Vice President Mohammad Jafar and Secretary General Nusrat Ali were also present.
