New Delhi, 25 Sep 2015: Eid al-Adha reminds us of the sacrifices given by Prophet Ibrahim. His whole life is replete with the sacrifices that one can imagine. Through his actions, he proved how dear the Deen of Allah is to him and for that Deen, he can sacrifice his own life, properties and even son. This is not an ordinary thing and that is why the practical example of sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim was declared a source of guidance for the Muslim Ummah till Dooms Day. These views were expressed by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind during the Eid al-Adha sermon at Masjid Ishaat-e Islam inside the campus of Jamaat here in New Delhi on 25th Sep.

In his speech, Ameer-e Jamaat elaborated upon four major sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim. Maulana Umari said that Prophet Ibrahim offered a big sacrifice at every stage of his life.

First, Prophet Ibrahim got a chance to sacrifice his own life when he was thrown into a huge ring of fire for raising the voice of Islam. He did not budge and jumped into the fire. However, on the orders of Allah, the fire turned cold for Ibrahim. Second, he sacrificed his native place and had to migrate to Syria when asked to do so. He told the world that for the Deen of Allah, one has to migrate also. Third, in the old age, he prayed to Allah for a noble son. The prayers were granted and Hazrat Ismail was born to him. Allah again ordered Prophet Ibrahim to take wife and son to a desert and leave them there. He did so and his wife Hazrat Hajira also obeyed when she got to know this was the order of Allah. Fourth, when Hazrat Ismail turned 11 (or when he was able to walk as per some traditions), Hazrat Ibrahim saw in dream that he was slaughtering his son. When he narrated the story to Ismail, he asked father to execute the order of Allah. And Prophet Ibrahim succeeded in this trial also.

Ameer-e Jamaat said that in every stage of his life, Prophet Ibrahim proved that his life and death all was for Allah. That’s why all mankind to come has been asked to follow the path of Prophet Ibrahim. We should pray to Allah to guide us to follow the life of Prophet Ibrahim.
