Jamaat-e-Islami Hind surprised at life sentence to Tarique Qasmi

New Delhi, 25 April: Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed surprise and sorrow over death sentence to Tarique Qasmi who was arrested in connection with court blasts in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi. He expressed hope that Tarique Qasmi will get justice from the higher court.

Jamaat’s Secretary General said that Khalid Mujahid, who was arrested in the same case, died in police custody, and the Nimesh Commission had raised questions over the arrest of the two youths; therefore it was expected that as many Muslim youths implicated in similar false cases were acquitted, killers of Khalid Mujahid would get punishment and Tarique Qasmi would be acquitted. It is sad it didn’t happen. However, we are hopeful that the requirements of justice will be fulfilled and families of Khalid Mujahid and Tarique Qasmi would get justice.
