Najeeb, first year student of M.Sc. (Biotechnology), went missing from his Room No. 106 at the Mahi-Mandavi hostel of JNU on 15th October. Previous night (14th Oct), he allegedlyhad an scuffle with some members of ABVP – the students wing of the BJP, who had reportedly come to his room for hostel election campaign.

“Twelve days have passed since he went missing. His family lodged FIR very next day of his disappearance. The Delhi Police also set up an SIT. However, he still remains untraced. It seems that honest efforts are not being made to find out Najeeb,” said Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

The JIH Secretary General demanded a thorough probe into the alleged scuffle between him and some members of ABVP because he disappeared a day after the incident.

“As he disappeared just a day after the scuffle, the university and police should take it very seriously. They should investigate it properly and the persons made accused in the FIR of Najeeb’s family should be interrogated,” demanded Salim Engineer.

Meanwhile, Jamaat leader visited Najeeb’s family and consoled them. He also assured them of all possible help.
