Jamaat expresses sorrow at the death of Indore pilgrims in Uttarakhand bus accident

New Delhi, May 25: The Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Muhammad Salim Engineer expressed sorrow at the death of 24 pilgrims from Indore in a bus accident in Uttarkashi while returning from Gangotri.

The Secretary-General offered his condolences to the relatives of the deceased. Salim Engineer appealed to the Uttarakhand government to expedite all possible measures like identification of accident-prone spots, installation of speed cameras, warning signage and crash barriers. He urged the administration to quickly dispense the compensation announced to the kind of who lost their lives and provide free medical care to the injured.

At least 24 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district were killed and eight were injured when a bus fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand late evening on Tuesday. The bus was coming from Gangotri shrine before it fell into the gorge near Nalupani in Uttarkashi district.
