Jaipur: The Jaipur Central Jail had two special guests for two hours on this Eid. They were invited by the jail authorities to lead Muslim prisoners in Eid prayers inside the jail.

After leading the prayers, Mohammad Salim Engineer, National Secretary,  Public Relations, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, accompanied with Mohammad Nazimuddin, member of the advisory council of Rajasthan Jamaat-e-Islami, also ate Eid dishes with the inmates.

“There were around 350-400 Muslim prisoners who had gathered to offer Eid prayers. It was first time in my life that I was leading namaz inside a jail,” said Salim Engineer. In his Eid sermon, he highlighted the at rocities being committed with the weaker sections of the society across the country.

“I stressed peace and communal harmony in the country. I also talked about how the state actors are using excessive powers with the poor and the weak. I also prayed for the fast disposal of the cases of the inmates and their release,” Salim Engineer informed.

It was the first time that Jamaat leaders were invited to lead Eid prayers and celebrate Eid with the prisoners.

Great service to the humanity. I wish and pray to Allah all Muslim inmates are served similarly at least at Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha occasions across the country. JIH should chalk out a plan for both occasions and mobilize its cadres to execute it effectively.
