New Delhi:  Jamaat-e-Islami Hind  on Monday  has  refuted  the  media reports that it has  appealed to Muslims to support the newly-formed Aam Aadmi Party which has  created  a storm by  ending the 15-year rule of the Congress in Delhi. Terming the reports as baseless, Jamaat secretary Er Mohammad Salim said some journalists   have drawn a far-fetched inference from Jamaat leaders’ remarks made at the monthly briefing. Talking to Muslim Mirror here, he said Jamaat Islami made a general comment on the victory of AAP and its formation of the government in Delhi.  “In reply to a question, Jamaat secretary general Nusrat Ali said the formation of Aam Aadmi Party’s government in Delhi is generally being welcomed in the country. We consider these new trends as notable and reassuring”, he added. “How can one stretch this remark to wild inference that Jamaat is asking Muslims to support the AA P,” he asked.

However, he said the Muslims were by and large not happy with the Congress and UPA government as it did not do anything tangible for the community in its two consecutive terms.
