JIH relief team begins survey and planning in Nepal

New Delhi, 29 April 2015: To help the people of earthquake-hit Nepal, India’s neighbouring country, a relief team of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has reached Kathmandu and begun surveying the affected areas with the help and advice of local people. The team is also updating the headquarters of the Jamaat here in New Delhi with the requirements of the affected people.

In the light of the information received from the relief team in Kathmandu, the central leaders of the Jamaat have decided to make immediate arrangement through Jamaat’s Bihar and Uttar Pradesh zones to send items of basic need to Kathmandu and other affected places for the earthquake victims. Another delegation of Jamaat’s central leadership will reach Kathmandu on 30 April to guide relief operation there. A team of doctors associated with Jamaat will also reach Nepal very soon.

Meanwhile, to expedite the relief work being carried out by Jamaat’s Bihar zone for the people affected by the thunderstorm some days before the earthquake, the Jamaat headquarters has sent Rs 5 lakh to the zone.
