Let us reflect on why we are being persecuted – Mohammed Jafar

August 12, 2019

New Delhi: The Naib-Ameer (Vice President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Maulana Mohammed Jafar while delivering the sermon on the occasion of Eid al Adha, addressed the Muslim community and said: “Today is the day of Eid al Adha, the Eid of Sacrifice. However, your sacrifice is accepted only after offering the Eid prayers. The act of sacrifice is very important to the degree that it entitles you to join the ones who shall partake the drink of “Kausar” at the hands of the Prophet ﷺ . All over the world Muslims are facing trials and tribulations. We must reflect on its reasons. And if there are any shortcomings from our side then we must overcome them. We are being associated with things like terrorism and there is a trend of Islamophobia all over the globe. We pray for our brothers who are currently being oppressed and tested. We also pray for our brothers who are unable to celebrate the Eid. We hope Allah will bless them and they will celebrate Eid like all others.”

The JIH Vice President said: “In our country too Muslims are being tested. The process of NRC is going on in the North-East and Muslims are facing issues in trying to prove their citizenship. The government plans to implement NRC all over the country and Muslims should ensure they have the necessary documents to prove their citizenship. The government is also raking up other issues related to Muslims. They have passed the Triple Talaq Act by which a husband can be sent to jail if he gives triple talaq. The divorce will not be valid and he shall have to pay maintenance to the wife as well. We must raise awareness and not allow such cases to go to the court. We must establish Counseling centers, Shara’ee panchayat and Darul Qaza in this regard. We are also confronted with the problem of mob-lynching. We must support the victims legally. The Constitution gives us the right to defend our life if someone attacks us.”

Mohammed Jafar implored: “Let us realize that it is our responsibility to spread the message of Islam to our countrymen. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) has set an exemplary life for us to emulate. He sacrificed all he had and was even ready to offer the life of his own son to Allah. Remember that it is piety which reaches God and not the blood of the sacrifice. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has instructed the two Eids namely Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha are to be celebrated and both the days are an occasion of joy and happiness for Muslims. But unlike others we should not go overboard and do acts of sin and impiety. We must imbibe the values given by Allah’s Prophets and be ready to sacrifice our utmost in the Way of Allah.
