Maulana Umari grieved at death sentence to Bangladesh Jamaat Islami leader

New Delhi, 01 Jan 2015: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed grief and concern at death sentence to Azharul Islam, central assistant secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat Islami. Several leaders of the Bangladesh Jamaat have been awarded death sentence by the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid in the recent past. Maulana Umari termed the verdicts of the so-called war crimes tribunal as cruel and unjustified.

Ameer-e Jamaat Maulana Umari said the death sentence to the senior Jamaat leader by the government through the tribunal is not just against the trend of mutual cooperation between the government of a Muslim nation and those working for Islam in the country but also like falling prey to global conspiracies against Islam and Muslims.

Maulana Umari further expressed grief at the fact that Muslim rulers of Bangladesh are ignoring the Quranic teaching that every individual will be held accountable for his every action before Allah, and continuously moving on the path of oppression, which will invite the wrath of Allah.

Ameer-e Jamaat called upon international human rights organizations and justice-loving people to put pressure on the government of Bangladesh to end its unjustified trend and brutalities and establish an atmosphere of justice and peace in the country. This will be only well wishing for Bangladesh and its people.
