Message from the President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Hussaini on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr

25 May 2020, New Delhi: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Hussaini extended Eid greetings to all and prayed to Allah for making it an occasion for blessings and prosperity.

The JIH President said: ‘This is a historic and unique Eid. We are witnessing the dawn of a new era. We observed Ramadan in a different situation. We kept hearing news about the spread of the pandemic and thousands of deaths caused by the virus. This softened our hearts and made us turn to our Creator. We have to change ourselves and play a new and positive role in the post-COVID world.”

Syed Sadatullah said that: ‘’Islamic festivals help Muslims establish a strong relationship with God as well as connect with people. Eid ul Fitr is an announcement of the glory and supremacy of God. Hence, Muslims repeatedly recite and repeat words that glorify the Almighty (offer takbeer). This pandemic has offered an opportunity to the world to understand and recognize the Lord of nature and reflect on how the entire universe is under His control and at His mercy. It is a ‘sign’ of God that should make us aware of His divine existence.”

The Jamaat chief said: “The Muslim community should spread love and mercy. The orderly ranks of worshippers during the Eid prayer are a proclamation of social equality, unity and discipline. The ‘sadaqa e fitr’ and ‘zakat’ are a manifestation of the love and care for the poor, needy and marginalized. The pandemic has led to a depressed economy, huge unemployment, hunger and sickness. Muslims must prepare for the service of humanity and solving their problems. We must not get distracted by the negative propaganda unleashed by some sections of media against Muslims. We must communicate the noble and pristine teachings of Islam and focus on this task with complete confidence and concentration. Muslims must consider the problems of fellow countrymen to be their problems, Muslims must consider them to be their brothers and develop empathy towards humanity. We are happy at the tremendous and extraordinary social work done by our youth, elders and women during the lockdown. We are proud of them and want the entire Ummah to emulate this practice to the extent that it becomes a part of their identity. Muslims must be seen as the benefactors and saviors of humanity and assets for the country.”
