We are shocked to hear the sad and sudden demise of Prof. Muhammad Abdul Haq Ansari, the former president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and an Islamic scholar of international repute. It was sad news for the Indian community residing in Saudi Arabia. In my opinion there are just only a few Islamic scholars of his caliber in India and Pakistan.
Dr. Abdul Haq Ansari was a man of great talent and a nice person who was loved and respected by a large number of his companions and admirers. He authored many books. He was highly qualified, very soft spoken and extremely competent person.
His death is a great loss for Muslim Ummah particularly for the Indian community. His valuable services will be remembered for long time. We pray Allah (SWT) to forgive his sins and grant mercy and shower his blessings upon him. — Zakaria Sultan, Riyadh

Dr Abdul Haque Ansari devoted his life for the Islamic movement in India from his early days. While studying in AMU Aligarh, he along with Prof M N Siddiqi decided to acquire Arabic and Islamic knowledge to perform research studies in their respective disciplines. Dr Ansari preferred to work in the area of philosophy and tasawwuf. More than an Islamic intellectual, Dr Ansari was a man of passion and action. He passionatelt served the Islamic cause wherever he lived, at Shanti Niketan in West Bengal, at Aligarh and Saudi Arabia. He came back to India with a zeal to trnsform the functioning of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and as Amir-e-Jamaat he contributed a lot in revitalising the Islamic movement in India. We remember his speech at Gaya (Bihar) in late 70s. As young workers, we were fan of him and acquired a sense of intellectual confidence with his talk. Late SM Iqbal sb and Hasan Raza sb of Bihar had closer relation with Abdul Haque sb. Even at his old age, he was zealous to think and activate long term plans for Islamic movement. His determination was exemplary with which he lived a dynamic life. May Allah shower His blessing upon him.
