June 1, 2012

Bangalore: Every language is a creation of Allah (SWT) and conveying Islam in the language of the people is a commendable job, the Ameer-e-Shariath of Karnataka, Mufti Ashraf Ali Baqvi, has said.

“There are signs for us in the variety of languages. No language should be labeled with a particular community. I congratulate Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka for publishing the Kannada version of Sahih-ul-Bukhari,” Mufti Ashraf Ali said after releasing the Kannada version of Sahihul Bukhari’s abridged edition at the Town Hall here on May 11.

The ceremony, organised by Shanti Prakashana, Mangalore, was attended by a large gathering, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Speaking on “Introduction to Hadees and the message of Prophet’s (s) life”, Muhammad Kunhi, Manager, Shanti Prakashana, said that the Qur’an and Hadees were the two basic sources of guidance in Islam.

“Prophet Muhammad (s) not only preached Islam but also demonstrated it practically. Every minute detail of his life has been preserved and followed by his followers even today; no other great man in history has this distinction,” Mr. Kunhi opined, pointing out that the system evolved by the Prophet (s) was well balanced and encompassed all spheres of life, be it spirituality, morality, economics or politics.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambara, Jnanapith Awardee and former Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi, and Dr. Marula Siddappa, eminent writer and former professor at Bangalore University, lauded Shanti Prakashana on behalf of the Kannada-speaking people for its services in Kannada publications. A Kannada litterateur present on the occasion termed the Sahih-ul-Bukhari’s Kannada edition a gem in the Kannada literature. The compilation of the Prophet’s (s) sayings has been translated into Kannada by M. Saadullah from Mangalore.

The book-release ceremony commenced with the recitation from the Holy Qur’an and Hadees by Maulana Hafiz Azharullah Khan Qasmi, who also read out its Kannada translation. K.M. Ashraf, Secretary, JIH Karnataka, briefed the activities of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and how the outfit established Shanti Prakashana 24 years ago. The publishing house has brought out 250 different titles on Islam so far.

Dr. Belgami Muhammad Sa’d, State Secretary, JIH Karnataka was the convener for the programme, and Muhammad Bilal, Joint Secretary, JIH Karnataka, presented the vote of thanks. Muhammad Abdullah Javed, President, JIH Karnataka and others were also present on the occasion.
