Secretary General JIH takes part in TV debate on Bhagwad Gita
New Delhi: Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Engineer Muhammad Salim took part in a TV debate (23rd December 2015) on the statement of the Education Minister of Rajasthan to make the teaching of Bhagwad Gita mandatory in schools. Engineer Salim said that: ‘’All religious books are highly respectable and our country is multi-religious. We the people of India have made a Constitution for ourselves in which we decided that India will be a secular country in which all religions will be equally respected. The State will not give precedence and priority to a particular religion over others. It is regrettable to find that a minister who has taken the oath of office on the Constitution that is tied to the principle of secularism and who represents people of all religions and sects of India, if that minister talks of only one religious book then it goes against the spirit of the constitution. The ones who say that morality can be sought only by one religious text have a fascist mindset.’’ The debate was aired on the IBN7 Hindi channel see link > http://khabar.ibnlive.com/videos/geeta-lord-krishna-rajshthan-school-library-aaj-ka-mudda-mudda-437367.html

Jaihind, selam alikum, It talks about religious war in India. True religious values should not be undermined. What about Chinese people who do not follow any religion?

On violation of the constitution there is a provision of removal of judges etc . If the government violates the constitution why should it remain in office.
Such dangerous steps would jeopardise the unity & integrity of the country. It is anti national too.

JIH should take stand that yes! we are in favour of mandatory teaching religious books of both the main religions of India; Vedas, Geeta, Quran and Hadith. We should also encourage to teach both Sanskrit and Arabic language for better understanding of both the religions and books. This is the way to create real harmony and peace in the society. JIH’s platform should not promote secularism in the meaning of religion-less education and religion-free society.

I think that Spirituality should be the matter of any religion…..
Gita teaches us that how to live…..
So this hardly matter that who teach that or not.
