JUSTICE FOR TELENGANA – TELENGANA FOR JUSTICE

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will hold a grand ‘Telangana Garajna’ on 7th February 2010 at Nizam College Ground Hyderabad. People from across Telangana will gather in large numbers to demonstrate their solidarity with the demand for separate statehood to Telangana. Apart from Jamaat leaders, intellectuals, politicians and leaders associated with the Telangana Movement will address the historical assemblage. A ‘Telangana Declaration’ will also be approved in the gathering that will spell out the aspirations and hopes of the people with the new state.
Jamaat has already supported the demand and struggle of people of Telangana for a separate state.  Jamaat regards the statehood to Telangana as an effective strategy to curtail the backwardness of the region and to grant People of Telangana their due rights and justice.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is among the influential and popular organizations of the state. It stands for high moral standards and justice. It is against Regionalism, Communalism and Linguistic and Sectarian Chauvinism. Its support to Telangana Movement isn’t based on regionalism; it is rather to check the exploitation of the region and the injustice done against the people of Telangana.
Jamaat has already declared its stance that it didn’t consider language as the only valid basis for the formation of a state. Smaller states that are more homogeneous are comparatively more efficient and manageable. Statistics also show that in bigger states the development has been comparatively slower. The states like Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have shown faster growth after separation from bigger states. So the requirements of development and justice should be the basis of the formation of states.

Jamaat’s endeavor is to keep Telangana Movement peaceful. Only lawful means should be employed. Lives and properties of people of all regions should be protected. No one should feel insecure in Telangana. Demand for statehood shouldn’t flare up regional chauvinism and passions. Telangana Garajna will guide the people on all such vital issues and as to how the movement should progress.
People do not want Telangana just to add one more state in the list. They want Telangana for justice. Telangana’s formation is for Justice therefore its prime agenda, its identity and its distinction should also be the values of justice and equity. Jamaat believes, it is the right time to evaluate an effective agenda and vision for the new state. This will also be an important subject of the deliberations in Telangana Garajana and the discussions will result in a comprehensive declaration that will set the agenda for the new state.
We make an earnest appeal to all people of Telangana, belonging to all communities, to turn in large numbers and make this event a great landmark in the historic struggle.
