The All India Members’ Convention of Jamaate Islami Hind concludes

Today, the All India Members’ Convention of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind concluded at the Wadi e Huda grounds on Pahadi Shareef road with various resolutions on National, Community and International Issues passed. Around 9000 men and women from all over India participated in this convention. In the Convention, where common social issues were discussed, detailed discussions were also held on issues faced by humanity at national and international levels. The issues faced by Indian Muslims and their desirable role in the reconstruction of our country were also discussed.

A strong sense of anguish was expressed over the growing intolerance witnessed in the country. The convention was of the opinion that the fascist forces alone are responsible for the current unpleasant environment prevalent in the country. The convention concluded that the justice-loving citizens of the country are also disturbed by the current national situation and noted writers, poets, actors and intellectuals have expressed their deep sorrow over this situation by returning their awards. The convention felt that the majority of the population supports peace and wants to live together despite all their mutual differences.

The anti-people and unjust policies of the Central Government were also severely condemned in the convention. The convention felt that the Modi Government deceived the public in the guise of Achhe Din, but framed laws which benefit only the corporate sector and MNCs in this short period of one and a half years. The farmers are being expelled from their own lands and the rights of labourers are being exploited. In the Indian economy, the unrestricted interference of FDI is adversely affecting the domestic and small scale industries. A strong exception was taken over the exponentially increasing crime rate in the country along with a sharp rise in female molestation and rape cases. The convention expressed deep anguish over the suppression of cultural freedom of minorities especially Muslims, crippling their educational institutions, and saffronization of the country’s education system. The convention has demanded that the Government abstain from their unproductive approach and provide all those rights and privileges to all minorities and classes which have been long instituted by the Constitution of India and International Laws.

This convention condemned the Uniform Civil Code which is being advocated by a few anti-social elements. These elements want to see the country in a state of civil unrest and mutual disruption. For a Multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-religious country like India, a common uniform civil law is not possible. The Constitution of our country provides right to religion as a fundamental right and as far as Muslims are concerned, their personal law is an integral part of Islamic shariah which cannot be compromised upon.

According to the convention, the memorandum given to the Prime Minister by namesake Muslim women organizations seeking amendments in the Muslim Personal Law and to ban the system of 3-divorces and polygamy, and the namesake Islamic Code bill being presented is a serious conspiracy against Indian Muslims. These women’s organizations are a tool of fascist forces and are trying to cover-up the failures of the Government by raising these issues now. In the convention, the sincere cadre of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind was instructed to speed up their efforts towards the reconstruction of the country and solving the problems of humanity.

In this 4-day convention, intellectuals and political leaders shared their views on an important subject- ‘Reconstruction of Society and Our Role’. Participants included: Deputy CM of Telangana: Mehmood Ali, opposition leader Muhammad Shabbir Ali, VP of AIMPLB Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, ex-MP Muhammad Adeeb, WPI National President SQR Ilyas, senior advocate of the Supreme Court of India Mehmood Paracha, AIMMM President Dr. Zafarul Islam and Shri Shankaracharya Onkaranand Saraswati Pariagpeth. The meet was presided over by the Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Jalaluddin Umari. The meet concluded with his supplications to Allah.

One of the objectives of the Jamaat is to promote Health Care of the community. Muslim brethren, particularly amongst the poor segment are hard pressed to meet emergency medical treatments due to high cost and often suffer as they cannot meet.
I have come across Jain community providing health insurance cover for their members through General Insurance companies. Those who can afford the premium cost pay on their own and those who do not, are supported by their charitable trust. Their community leaders negotiate and achieve very low premium cost for their members. All pre existing ailments too get covered.
Jamaat may wish to consider developing a group insurance cover for the Muslim community. In case of any assistance you may contact me on my mail id.
