The best deed at this time is to comfort the needy and help them make ends meet: JIH Maharashtra chief Rizwan-ur-Rehman Khan

April 6, Mumbai: It has been more than two weeks since the lockdown in the country. During this period many people have suffered as the lockdown caught them unawares. Realizing their difficulties, the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra mobilised its members and workers to serve them.

Despite the scarcity of resources, the members of the organisation have distributed aid worth Rs. 1.34 crore to the people during the ongoing lockdown during. The aid includes foodgrains, cooked food, medicine and cash.

JIH Maharashtra has provided groceries worth Rs. 1.13 crore to more than 20,900 families and delivered food packets worth Rs. 16.21 lakh to around 48,400 people across the state. Cash and medicines worth Rs. 5.34 lakhs were provided to over 500 people. The organisation has vowed to continue the relief work until the lockdown is over. Jamaat-e-Islami Maharashtra chief Rizwan-ur-Rehman Khan said, “The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind alone cannot do the mammoth task of relieving the people by itself. Other organisations and individuals should also come forward to provide relief to the people. ”

Rizwan-ur-Rehman Khan said that it is gratifying to know that a large section of the society is serving distressed people. Expressing deep sorrow over the pain of the people suffering from Corona epidemic, he said that we hope that we will get out of this difficult phase soon and return to our normal lives.

Rizwan-ur-Rehman Khan said that it is high time we turn to our Creator and introspect over our deeds and actions.

Members and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Jalgaon, Buldhana, Aurangabad, Pune Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Akola and Kolhapur participated in this effort by providing food, ration kits, medicines and cash for the needy.
