The central body of JIH has decided to support the separate state of Telangana

Mujtaba Farooq, political affairs secretary of JIH told
“We are not supporting Telangana out of emotion, nor our support should mean to support regionalism. We are supporting Telangana because it is the demand of justice,”. “Telangana was earlier separate. When it was merged with Andhra Pradesh a treaty was signed between Telangana and government of India but the treaty was always ignored. Whenever the government was reminded of the treaty, changes were made in the treaty and the locals were promised of some facilities and benefits. But those promises were never kept. When an area is merged with a state and promised of benefits but these promises are not made then that area is entitled to ask for their rights,”. “If Telagana is separated from Andhra Pradesh, the percentage of Muslim population in the new state will be much higher and there they can fight for justice. At present, 40% of the population of entire Andhra is in the Telangana region. Muslims constitute about 35% of this 40% population -- that will be one-third of the population of Telangana state. As there has been influence of the Nizam era in that region, Muslims there are in a position to effectively take part in socio-political development,”.
To keep this and the historic background of Telangana region, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has decided to hold a massive rally in support of the movement for new state, he added.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Andhra Pradesh put the matter before the Central Advisory Council of JIH and demanded the Jamaat leadership to support the movement for separate state of Telangana. The central body of JIH has decided to support the movement, and the February 7 rally will be the first major public gathering in which Jamaat will announce the support.
