JIH Mumbra organised Anti Drugs Campaign

Mumbra: The Mumbra unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) organised a 15-day campaign from 28th Dec to 13th Jan against various drugs like Ghutka, Cigarettes, Charas, opium, Alcohol, Tobacco, etc. The campaign ended with a Grand Rally followed by a huge Public Conference on 13th Jan.

Thousands of people including School Students, Women, members of NGOs, Associates of SIO (Students Islamic Organisation of India), GIO (Girls Islamic Organisation of India), JIH Women Wing, IFC (Islamic  Friends Circle), Mumbra Voice Foundation, Various Social leaders, joined the Rally raising slogans against drugs. The rally started from Mumbra Station at around 4pm and ended at the Conference Venue.

 Among the invitees for the conference were Chief Guest Dr. Yusuf Matcheswala (M.D.(Psy), M.D.(Forensic), D.P.M, F.I.P.S) and Dr. Akbar Gabrani (BUMS (S.V.U), P.G. Dip. Coun. Psy.), Mr. Aslam Gazi (Secretary JIH Maharashtra), Mr. Feroz Khan (Vice President – Mumbra Voice Foundation), Mr. Zafar Ansari (President JIH Mumbra), Mr. Khurshid Ahmad (Thane District Organizer-JIH Maharashtra), Maulana Shafeeq Madni (President Mumbra – Jamiat Ulema), Maulana Abdur Raheem (Representative of sufi cleric Moin Miya), Prof. Jawed Shaikh (Asst. Professor Kalsekar Engineering College- Panvel)

Dr. Yusuf Matcheswala in his speech said that to develop our country and to improve the situation as well as condition of our current generation it is our duty to keep them away from drugs. He pointed out that most of the drugs consumers are students of schools and colleges and the poor children from slums. He stressed on awareness among people and students about the consequences of drugs.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Ali Akbar Gabrani said we have time to reach the Moon but we don’t have time for our children and family. If we do not look after our children then who else will? We should keep a keen view on all activities of our children. If your family stays away from drugs then your city and country will be away from drugs, he said.

The conference concluded with a thanksgiving speech and inaugural of a new campaign “My Daughter My Dignity” from 13th Jan. to 24th Jan of JIH Women Wing by Mr. Zafar Ansari (President JIH Mumbra).
