Islamic Madrasas Confront Challenges: UP Government Circular Discussed

October 10, 2024

New Delhi: Recently, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government issued a circular concerning madrasas, sparking significant concern, particularly among Islamic madrasas and the general public in the state. The circular was criticized for its weaknesses, and it is equally important to acknowledge the broader challenges currently facing Islamic madrasas.

In response, the Markazi Taleemi Board of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind organized a discussion to address both the challenges confronting madrasas and the implications of the recent UP government circular. The event featured key contributions from Maulana Tahir Madani (Secretary, Milli Affairs, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, UP East), Dr. Salman Asad (Director, Jamiatul Salehat, Rampur), and Mr. Haseeb Ahmed (former civil servant). The session was moderated by Syed Tanveer Ahmed (Secretary, Markazi Taleemi Board, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind).

The discussion delved into a comprehensive analysis of the government’s circular, its potential impact, and a strategic roadmap for the future of Islamic madrasas. The challenges faced by these institutions in the current era were thoroughly examined, along with potential solutions for overcoming them.
