Morality’s Crucial Role in Achieving True Freedom and Justice

New Delhi: FORWARD Trust Karnataka hosted a webinar titled ‘Morality: The Guiding Force to True Freedom and a Just Society,’ where speakers discussed how moral values can help build a more just and equitable society.

The event commenced with Arshiya Fatima Tanzila, who introduced the campaign’s core objectives. Following this, Syeda Nuzhat Fatima Razvi provided an overview of FORWARD Trust’s mission, laying the foundation for the evening’s discussions.

Professor Indra captivated the audience with her perspective on freedom, defining it as the ability to make choices that lead to positive outcomes. She stressed the critical role of education in embedding moral values throughout the educational journey, from schools to colleges, advocating for a collaborative approach involving educators, parents, and communities.

Dr. Shakila Banu addressed the importance of respecting women and the pressing need for stronger moral education. She observed that modern education often lacks a moral compass and urged students to engage more meaningfully with their families. Dr. Banu also called for a balance between digital and physical activities, advocating for a holistic approach to youth development.

Lobo spoke passionately about the role of ethics in building a just and fair society. She emphasized that true freedom is linked to responsibility, underscoring the need to nurture both human and divine values. Her message was clear: the more freedom we seek, the greater our responsibility to uphold ethical standards.

National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Rahmatunnisa A. delivered a powerful closing address, highlighting the campaign’s goal of uniting NGOs in promoting moral values in education. She referenced a recent incident at a medical college as an example of the urgent need for reform. Her speech touched on broader issues, including cultural and economic freedom, the challenges posed by debt and abuse, and the ongoing fight for gender equality. She called for the establishment of moral boundaries to navigate these complex issues and foster a just society.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Hajera Mateen, who expressed gratitude to the speakers and attendees for their contributions to the discussion. The webinar left participants with much to reflect on, reinforcing the critical role of morality in shaping a society where true freedom and justice can thrive.
