Chinchwad, Pune: The Women’s Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra, concluded its month-long ‘Morality is Freedom’ campaign with a grand convention at the Elpro Mall Auditorium.

This campaign aimed to raise awareness about the importance of morality in achieving true freedom and to encourage women to embrace ethical living as a pathway to liberation.

Women discuss morality and freedom at the ‘Morality is Freedom’ campaign finale hosted by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra.

In her concluding address, Khan Mubashira Firdaus, campaign convenor and Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), emphasized the importance of understanding freedom by first examining the concept of slavery. She pointed out that throughout history, humanity has endured various forms of oppression, from monarchs to colonial powers.

Firdaus defined true freedom as liberation from human subjugation and a return to serving God. She cautioned that while freedom—especially sexual freedom—can be beneficial, it can also be misused. Unrestricted freedom can foster selfishness and harm society.

She expressed concern over the current societal trend that promotes ambiguous gender roles and lifestyles that contradict moral values, largely influenced by Western media and corporate agendas, which she described as a form of modern slavery.

She asserted that freedom, while precious, must always be exercised within ethical boundaries. True freedom is achieved by living a righteous life, protecting future generations, and ensuring stability within marriages and communities.

The program featured a lively panel discussion on the campaign’s theme, moderated by Dr. Aisha, with panelists Dr. Shaheen, Najmunnisa, Arshiya Shaikh, and Swaleha Sherkar. The discussion focused on the real meaning of freedom, ethics, morality, the laws of nature, and how true and sustainable freedom can only be achieved through adherence to moral values.

Feroza Shaikh, Assistant City Incharge, JIH Pune, introduced the ‘Morality is Freedom’ campaign. A report on the campaign was presented in a multimedia format. Various awareness programs were conducted at the state, district, and grassroots levels, involving schools, colleges, counselors, lawyers, religious scholars, and community leaders. VIPs and influencers were engaged, and interfaith discussions, visits to ‘bastis and mohallas,’ and public meetings were organized in most cities and towns of Maharashtra.

Several press conferences were also held to introduce the campaign. Zaheera gave the vote of thanks, and the program concluded with a prayer by Tayyiba. More than 600 women and female students participated in the concluding convention.
