New Delhi, 29 Nov. 2021: ‘Ujalon Mein Safar-Tehreek Islami Ke Saath Nisf Sadi’, an Urdu memoir of half a century journey with Islamic movement, penned by renowned author, poet, and Islamic activist Intizar Naeem was released at a ceremony, held on Sunday evening at the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) HQRS in New Delhi. JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini presided over the book-release ceremony while many other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
This memoir is based on writer’s practical experience with the Islamic movement in India during half a century of his association with JIH. The 424-page book contains 172 chapters, in which the author mentioned more than 700 selected persons, whom he had met during his 50-year long journey of Islamic activism. The important events, which are instructive and inspiring, were mentioned in a very concise but interesting and attractive style. The book also gives an insight into the relations of the senior JIH leaders with Hindu religious and political leaders of the time.
Hailing the memoir, the JIH President said that the book, which was written in a unique style, would impress the new generations and would support the movement to move ahead. He said, “such books are a prime source of history. The movement’s ups and downs were mentioned in a very lucid and attractive way, maintaining a high standard, which will support the Islamic activism.
Speaking on the occasion, former Chairman of Delhi Minority Commission, senior author and director of Shibli Academy, Azamgarh (UP) Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan said, “the book is actually writer’s diary and records of his memories which are instructive and which can become the source of history of the country and the community. It will be very helpful while writing the history of the Indian Muslims.”
Addressing the ceremony, JIH Vice President Mohammad Jafar said that the narration of events in the book is very effective. He added, “the book is a mirror of the personality of the author.”
JIH Secretary of the Women’s Department Mrs. Atiya Siddiqua said, the book is a good gift and guide for our young generation and it is a valuable addition to the Islamic literature.
Speaking briefly about the book, author Mr. Intizar Naeem said, the book basically notes such events which provide an opportunity to learn something.
Senior journalist AU Asif was the programme convenor. He also shed light on the life and contributions of the author.
