The Central Advisory Council, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) expresses concern over rapidly deteriorating social, political and economic situation in the country

New Delhi: In its meeting dated 20-22 April 2024, the Central Advisory Council, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind passed resolutions on the national situation and the global scenario.

The JIH Central Advisory Council expressed concern over the changes taking place in the country and the rapidly deteriorating social, political, and economic situation. Growing hatred in society, narrowing scope of religious freedom, incidents of violence against minorities especially Muslims, increasing feelings of insecurity in places of worship, politics based on self-interest and communal hatred, the increasing role of wealth in politics, the growing influence of capitalists on national policies, and the increasing number of people with criminal mindset in politics – were stated as issues of concern and which were constantly weakening the country. The JIH Central Advisory Council pointed out towards the decline of democratic values in a country, highlighting issues such as the undermining of democratic institutions’ autonomy and suppression of dissent. Economic disparities, including wealth concentration and rising inflation and unemployment, contribute to dissatisfaction, particularly among youth and farmers. It urged active participation in elections to prioritize the country’s welfare. It emphasized the need for fair electoral practices, condemning hate speeches and divisive narratives. The Election Commission of India was called upon to ensure justice, fairness, and adherence to democratic principles during elections.

Regarding the global situation, the Central Advisory Council, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind felt that global peace is under serious threat at the moment. It described the ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestine, condemning it as the worst genocide in Palestine’s history. It highlighted global outrage against Israel’s actions and criticized the support it receives from many Western governments. Additionally, it lamented the indifference of Muslim countries. The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Central Advisory Council strongly condemned the attacks and demanded an end to Western support for Israel. It called on the international community to take decisive action to stop the massacres, restore peace, and punish Israeli war criminals. The Council emphasized that the conflict’s ramifications extend beyond Israel and Palestine, affecting the entire Middle East and potentially leading to global unrest and economic crises. It urged the United Nations and the international community to intervene promptly. Furthermore, the JIH Central Advisory Council urged the Indian government to utilize its influence to help resolve the conflict and facilitate aid from Indian citizens to Palestinians.
