How to celebrate Eid with Children: Syed Tanveer Ahmed, JIH Secretary for Child Training

April 8, 2024

New Delhi: The National Secretary of the Child Training Division of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Tanveer Ahmed, has offered hearty Eid greetings to the children, students and parents of the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Syed Tanveer said, “The time spent with children on the occasion of Eid doubles the joy of Eid. This extra happiness is also experienced because children are the flowers of heaven and the person who spends time with children is as if he is enjoying the flowers of heaven. There should be proper arrangements for training and the regulation of children’s emotions and feelings on the occasion of Eid. In some places, children are not welcome in Eidgahs and mosques. They are scolded and not treated with kindness. Be that as it may, special arrangements should be made for children in Eidgahs and mosques. Imams and Khateebs should also meet children after Eid prayers, give them prayers, and encourage them.”

The JIH Secretary said, “On the occasion of Eid, there is an unhealthy trend seen at some places, where children and adults try show their superiority by flaunting the prices of their clothes. Such trends should not be allowed to grow and should be corrected. On the occasion of Eid, some children feel superior and some inferior in comparison to others. These feelings should be rectified. Children should be trained and told that a person is neither superior nor inferior just based on his/her attire, but it is the morals and character that elevate/debase a person.”

Syed Tanveer averred, “On the occasion of Eid, invite the children of your non-Muslim friends to your home and offer them sheer khurma. Ask the children to make a list of their close and distant relatives and call them to greet them. This will develop the spirit of affinity with the kindred in children. Go to a neighbor’s house and offer Eid greetings. Children should also remember their teachers on this occasion and greet them too. On the occasion of Eid, one should present the Islamic method of celebrating happiness and children should be told that Eid can be celebrated within the limits of Islam. Immoral activities, extravagance, or evil deeds must be avoided while celebrating Eid.”
