New Delhi, 11 Dec 2013: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has welcomed the judgement of Supreme Court whereby homosexuality has been declared illegal and a punishable offence. The apex court on Wednesday quashed the Delhi High Court verdict of 2009 which had decriminalized homosexuality.

Ameer-e Jamaat further said that unlimited individual freedom and the concept of so-called human rights is the result of western culture and is stranger to the Indian society. He said that homosexuality has not been accepted by majority of the people and religious organizations in the world. Homosexuality leads to moral chaos in the society and wherever it has been granted legal sanction the family system has disintegrated.

Maulana Umari has appealed to political leaders and Members of Parliament to ensure that no such law is presented in the parliament so that the country could be saved from moral devastation.

Jamaat should coordinate with other religious leaders/groups opposing deed of the people of Loot to counter the chattering class who is condemning the SC judgement.

Your views are no different from that of Sangh Parivar. Your views are dangerous to the rights of all minorities, including religious minorities.

what does homosexuality have to do with minorities? One must not drag in irreverent issues to get attention.

Righteous people of all religious communities are peaceful and value human life. They pose no danger to anyone ; minority or not. Do not equal extremists/radicals to religious people. They are not the same.
