Ameer-e Jamaat condemns terror attack at Pakistan university

New Delhi, Jan 21: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has strongly condemned the deadly terror attack at Bacha Khan University in the city of Charsadda in north-western Pakistan on Wednesday. Ameer-e Jamaat expressed grief at the death of innocent people including students and teachers and offered condolences to their family.

“We condemn the killing of innocent people at the Pakistan university in strongest terms. Such killings cannot be justified on any ground. This is clearly a savagery and un-Islamic act. The perpetrators must be brought to book and awarded harshest punishment,” said Ameer-e Jamaat.

At least 20 people including students, a teacher and some policemen were shot dead by armed militants at the university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday morning. In a similar terror attack about one year ago (Dec 2014), 134 people mostly students were killed at an army school in Peshawar.

“Islam prohibits wrongful murder of even one person, leave aside the mass murder. Islam calls for protection of human life. The barbarity shown at the Bacha Khan University yesterday or at Peshawar school in 2014 or killing of innocents anywhere in the world cannot be acceptable,” said Maulana Umari

Ameer-e Jamaat appealed to people of Pakistan to “strive for the development and progress of the country, community and humanity at large and resolve all their disputes in the light of Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”
