New Delhi 10th April 2016:

Ameer-e-Jamaat, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari has expressed deep sorrow at the Kollam temple fire tragedy in which more than a hundred people have died and over 350 injured. He offered his heart felt sympathies towards the families of the deceased and those who were injured in the fire that broke out in the Paravur Puttingal Devi temple.

The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Maulana Umari has instructed the Kerala Zone of Jamaat to play an active role in the relief and support to be offered to the injured and the families of the victims and hoped that the JIH Kerala cadre would visit the various hospitals in which the injured were being treated.

Maulana Umari hoped that the concerned authorities would rethink about the use of potentially hazardous fireworks in crowded places of worship and devise ways in which such tragedies could be averted.

The JIH chief invited the people of Kerala and the entire country to study the simple and unpretentious style of worship in Islam and appreciate its concept of devotion to the One and Only Creator sans any partner or intermediary.
