New Delhi, March 18: The writings of Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari are guiding a number of people across the globe. I feel privileged to have got guidance from his writings while studying Quran. In that sense he is my teacher indirectly. These views were expressed by Padma Shri Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, Director, Zakir Husain Institute of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. He was speaking at the book launch program of Ameer-e Jamaat Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari’s new work “Tajalliyaat-e Quran” here on Sunday (17th March). The program was organized y Markazi Maktaba Islami Publishers which has published the book.
“The issues raised in this book regarding Quran are very important. The book deserves to be included in the syllabus of Islamic studies,” said Prof. Wasey.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, Prof. Abdul Haque, professor emeritus, Delhi University, said Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi had started research work on Quran, Maulana Jalaluddin Umari has taken that work ahead.
Among the dignitaries and authors who addressed the program included famous Hindi translator of Quran Maulana Mohammad Farooque Khan, Dr. Mohammad Raziul Islam Nadwi and Dr. Ghitreef Shahbaz Nadwi.
Thanking the learned speakers at the end of the program, author of the book Maulana Umari said: “Whatever I have written in this book is based on Quran and Sunnah. I have avoided unnecessary innovation.” He further said that the contents of the book will remove various misunderstandings about Islam and Quran.
The program was anchored by Engineer Mohammad Salim, Secretary, Markazi Maktaba Islami Publishers. He informed the audience that the Maktaba has so far published over 2000 books in Urdu, Hindi and English, over 50 of them are on Quranic studies.
