New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President Syed Sadatullah Husaini has expressed deep shock over the demise of renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, and called it a great loss to the Muslim ummah.
In a condolence message, the JIH President said that he was not only a great Islamic scholar, but also a preacher, reformer, and a prominent Islamic jurist. Mr. Husaini continued, “Sheikh Al-Qaradawi’s personality was a combination of versatile characteristics. He was a great scholar of religion, the most prominent Islamic jurist in the contemporary world, an orator, poet and writer. His valuable works on various aspects of Islamic concepts have played an important role in introduction of Islam, across the globe. He was a vocal spokesman of the balanced Islamic thoughts and storngly criticized deviant thoughts and all kinds of extremism.” The JIH President prays, “may Allah grant him the highest place in paradise and patience to the family and followers.”
Sheikh Yusuf Al‑Qaradawi passed away in Doha, Qatar at the age of 96 on Monday. He was born in Egypt on 9 September 1926 and later moved to Qarar. Sheikh Qaradawi authored more than 120 books. He also served as the chairman of International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS). In recognition of his valube services, King Faisal Award, the biggest award of the Muslim world was presented to him.
