Mr Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has described as shocking and disheartening the government’s hastily approaching to Supreme Court for staying Delhi High Court Tribunal’s ruling that had lifted the ban on the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

Expressing surprise over the government’s deplorable attitude for foiling tribunal’s order, Mr Nusrat Ali pointed out, “after the independence, number of critical occasions came, when government by taking ‘swift actions’ could have save minorities’ rights and could provide them justice, but sadly in such occasions government took neither positive or constructive actions nor even thought about. At present while minorities are worse victims of atrocities and deprivations then government is showing such ‘painful’ attitude.”

Secretary General of Jamaat expressed hope that Supreme Court had delivered excellent decisions in the past about the rights and protection of minorities, in this case too the court would foil the government’s ‘unjust plan’ as to meet the requirement of justice.”

It may be noted that a press statement has been issued earlier by Secretary General of Jamaat welcoming the tribunal’s verdict of lifting ban on SIMI.
