Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), has strongly condemned Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on Lebanon, calling them “blatant acts of terrorism” and a “gross violation of international humanitarian laws and war norms.”
In a statement to the media, Mr. Husaini said, “We strongly condemn Israel for escalating the conflict in Gaza by attacking Lebanon. These brutal attacks have led to the tragic deaths of 492 people, including 35 children, in a single day, and left 1,645 others wounded. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been forced to flee their homes, creating a massive humanitarian crisis.”
Mr. Husaini also referred to the earlier “pager attacks,” which, according to CNN, were part of a joint operation by Israel’s intelligence services and military forces. He supported its characterization as “terror attacks” by several observers, including the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister. Mr. Husaini emphasized that Israel continues to violate international humanitarian laws, particularly the principles of distinction and proportionality. Despite being a signatory to the ‘Protocol on Mines, Booby-Traps, and Other Devices’ under the ‘Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons,’ Israel has flagrantly employed booby traps on a massive and catastrophic scale. This reckless behavior underscores the serious threat Israel poses to global peace.
“It is alarming,” Mr. Husaini added, “that those who once declared a global ‘war on terror’ remain silent in the face of Israel’s state terrorism. This selective and politicized approach to addressing terrorism is a significant obstacle to eradicating it.”
He warned that Israel’s aggressive actions could escalate the already devastating conflict in Gaza and threaten long-term peace across the region. Mr. Husaini called upon the international community to act urgently, enforcing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and holding Israel accountable for its atrocities against Palestinian and Lebanese civilians.
“Without immediate and decisive intervention from the UN and the global community, the entire region risks being drawn into a broader conflict, with catastrophic consequences for the world,” Mr. Husaini concluded.
