Jamaat delegation led by Secretary General visits Dadri victim family

New Delhi, 03 Oct 2015: A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind led by Secretary General Mohammad Salim Engineer on Friday visited Dadri area in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budha Nagar district and met the family of Akhlaq Ahmed who was lynched by a mob on 27th Sep for allegedly consuming and storing beef.

 

Besides the victim family, the Jamaat leaders met neighbours, villagers and also village headman and appealed all to restore peace and communal harmony in the area and assist police to ensure punishment to the culprits.

 

Salim Engineer was accompanied by Mohammad Ahmed, Secretary, Dr Salimullah, Jamaat president, Ghaziabad, Inamur Rahman, Jamaat’s Public Relations, and Layeeq Ahmed, General Secretary, SIO.

 

The delegation first met the mother and daughter of Akhlaq and offered their deep condolences. The relatives took the delegation through the house to show them the damages to properties.

 

Jamaat leaders interacted with Akhlaq’s neighbours, both Hindus and Mulsims. They also met village headman Sanjay Rana. Both Rana and villagers admitted the incident has defamed the village and assured the culprits will not be spared. They also said they would not like the victim families and other Muslims leave the village for fear.
