New Delhi, Jan-7:-

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has strongly condemned the police firing in Dhule town of Maharashtra which claimed 5 lives, all from the Muslim community on Sunday evening, and demanded judicial inquiry into the incident.

Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mr. Nusrat Ali in a press statement issued today asked, “why the police resort to firing as the first measure to control crowd and why other measures are not used to disperse the mob”. He said that most of those wounded in the firing in Dhule have got gunshots in upper parts of the body.  “This indicates that the police fired not to disperse rather to kill the people,” he added and demanded erring police officer must be punished.

Mr. Nusrat Ali further demanded state government to give Rs. 20 lakhs to the families of each deceased while Rs. 5 lakhs to each injured as compensation amount.
