Jamaat e Islami Hind Maharashtra demands the rejection of NRC & Citizenship Amendment Act in Maharashtra

Taking a cue from many states with non BJP Government, who announced to reject the NRC and CAB in their respective states, Rizwan-Ur- Rahman Khan, President of Jamaat e Islami Hind Maharashtra, on Saturday wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackrey urging him to reject the NRC and CA Act in Maharashtra.

Rizwan-ur- Rahman Khan said, “I like to urge you to reject The Citizenship Amendment Act in Maharashtra. The Act is “Discriminatory and Anti Constitutional and should not be allowed in Maharashtra, the state of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Chief Architect of our Constitution.”

In his letter he reminded that, “Maharashtra is where the final battle against the British Empire, the Quit India Movement started in 1942. I urge you to support “CAB- Quit India Movement” and find ways and means not to implement CAB.”

Maharashtra is not only the hub of Industries and finance but the Karmabhoomi of Social Reformers.

Maharashtra has always been in the forefront on social reforms and freedom struggle.

We believe, he said, “It is the constitution of India that binds us all in this plural society and the bill is not only against our Constitution but also against the International treaties. It is against the spirit of Justice, Equality and Freedom enshrined in the preamble and are the very basis of our Constitution.”

Mr. Khan, in his letter also supported all Intellectuals, Activists, Scientists, Political Parties, NGOs and many Indians and International Communities and Institutions, who have condemned it unequivocally and demand its immediate withdrawal.

He also wrote letter to many State leaders of different Political Parties, like Maharashtra Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party, AIMIM, RPI, VBA and others, suggesting them to reject the NRC and CA Act in Maharashtra.
Rizwan-ur- Rahman Khan, the state president of Jamaat e Islami Hind Maharashtra earlier sent letters to Shri Uddhav Thackrey, CM of Maharashtra, Shri Sharad Pawar National President of NCP, and other Rajya Sabha Members of the state asking them not to support the CAB 2019 in the Rajya Sabha.
