Jamaat forms high level panel for Relief, rehabilitation in Mazaffarnagar riot hit areas; Committee to focus on safely rehabilitation of all displaced persons

New Delhi, 16 Sept. 2013 :

A delegation led by Mr. Mohammad  Shafi Madani, all India Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has visited Meerut and formed a high level committee to carry out relief and rehabilitation works for Muzaffarnagar riot affected people.

Apart from Mr. Madani, Mr. Syed Akhlaq  coordinator of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), his assistant Mr. Abubaqar Sabbagh, Anwarulhaq were the part of this delegation.

A high level meeting was held in Meerut in which Jamaat’s UP (West) President, Maulana Inamullah Islahi, other state leaders and those who toured the riot hit areas also participated.

Mr. Madani informed that several crucial decisions were taken in the meeting for effectively carrying out relief works. He said, “Meerut has been decided as the headquarters of all relief rehabilitation works while sub centres will be established in some most affected areas. A ten members central execution committee was formed for relief works. Mr. Alauddeen, Jamaat’s state advisory council member and Meerut city president was selected as the in-charge of the committee.”

Giving details of the plan, Mr. Madani said, “there are three major works to be carried out in the riot-hit areas: 1) Legal Aids, 2) Complete survey of all riot affected people and loss of lives and properties, and 3) Rehabilitation of all displaced persons including their livelihood. The newly formed committee will  begin relief works from survey of riot hit people. The committee will visit tomorrow in the riot hit areas for survey. Registering FIRs will also be done along with survey works. The committee will mainly focus on safely rehabilitation of the all displaced persons. But some emergency relief works will also be done like providing sanitation, medical facilities and other day to day needs in relief camps.”

He also said that committee will also strive for creating good communal atmosphere and good relations between Hindu and Muslims and Jat and Muslims in the areas.

The UP (W) President of Jamaat, Maulana Islahi informed that the meeting chalked-out a comprehensive and practical plan for relief and rehabilitation works in the riot affected areas.

Mr. Syed Akhlaq, who visited riot-hit places i.e. Kandhla, Jogi Kheda, Jhohla, Loi, said, “Phugana was completely burn and destroyed while Laisadh and Kharad are the most affected villages. Most affected districts are Muzaffarnagar and Shamli. While Baghpat, Saharanpur and Meerut are also hit by the communal violence.”
