A protest march was held at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday to mark the 31st anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992 by various civil society organizations including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind(JIH) Vice President Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer called the demolition of Babri Masjid a major and tragic event in the history of India. He lamented that the demolition not only destroyed a mosque but also shook the very foundations of India, undermining the country’s democracy and constitution.

However, the trend of cracking down on dissent persists with the police obstructing the march and dispersing the gatherings forcefully.
