Jamaat-e-Islami Hind delegation visit of Madhya Pradesh to ascertain facts behind growing anti Muslims incidents

New Delhi, 08 Sept.2021: A four-member delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has visited Ujjain, Indore, Dewas and Bhopal cities of Madhya Pradesh to ascertain the facts behind growing incidents of unprovoked thrashing, beating and mob attacks on Muslims being reported from various cities there.

The delegation was comprised of the JIH’s central leadership including its Vice President Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary Malik Mohtasim Khan, and Assistant Secretaries Nadeem Khan and Inamur Rehman. It may be recalled that recently many incidents of communal tension and hate crimes were being reported in the media from Ujjain, Mandsaur, Dewas and Indore. The JIH delegation met family members of victims of mob violence. They consoled them and assured them of all legal help. They also met senior police officials in Ujjain and Indore and public representatives to express their concern over rising incidents of hate crimes. The delegation also met community leaders, social and human right activists. The delegation also met local legal activists in all these cities and discussed to extend legal support to innocent persons and to support legal actions against criminals and their supporters. The JIH delegation also addressed a press conference in Bhopal and expressed serious concern over a sharp rise in communal incidents in the Malwa region. The delegation has observed that these incidents are not isolated but all connected and the outcome of well-planned hate campaign under the patronage of political leaders. The delegation has also observed that the hate mongers and mob-lynchers are fearless due to patronage of political leaders in power. The delegation concluded that the role of police in not fair, they are trying to help the criminals and it seems the police is acting under political pressure. It was surprising and shocking to find that some victims have been framed and made accused and they are still in jail. It was also found that many of Muslim youths who were demanding action against criminals and justice for victims have been charged under very serious sections of IPC and are still in jail.It was observed that the victims, their families and even the Muslim community and their leaders are in the state of fear and feel that there is very little hope that the state government and the police would do justice with them. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind demands that the state government should initiate immediate measures to check the hate-related violence, to punish the perpetrators and their patrons, develop confidence and trust in the Muslim community. The police and the administration should ensure justice to the victims and should resist political pressure.

Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind supports the demands expressed in the recent Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The JIH is opposed to the farm laws passed in September 2020 and supports the ‘KisanAandolan’ demanding complete rollback of those laws that favour multinationals and will destroy the local ‘mandis’ of farmers and rob them of the MSP that they are rightfully entitled to. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind also appreciates the show of solidarity between the farmers who vowed not to be swayed by the forces of hatred and create a divide between communities on religious lines. Eight years ago in 2013, Muzaffarnagar was the scene of some of the most brutal communal violence, the same place was filled with fraternity, love and mutual trust between Hindus and Muslims. This is the victory of love over hate.  Jamaat-e-Islami Hind appeals to all the citizens of India to unite and save it from the path of destruction that the communal forces are trying to lead the country to.

Justice for Sabiya Saifi

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind condemns the alleged brutal rape and murder of SabiyaSaifi. We demand immediate arrest of the culprits and ex-gratia payment to her family members. News reports about family members not being satisfied with the course and speed of investigation should be verified through an impartial probe. It is a sad reality that despite so much rhetoric about “BetiBachao”, we have failed to create a climate in which our girls and women feel safe and secure in their workplace and outdoors. JIH hopes the government, law enforcement agencies, lawmakers, the judiciary and concerned citizens will chalk out new policies for the protection and security of our women so that they can accomplish their potential without fear of being stalked, harassed and losing their lives to crimes that put humanity to shame.
