Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Islahi passes away

New Delhi, 21st Dec. 2021: Renowned Islamic scholar, author, orator and member of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Central Advisory Council Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Islahi passed away today at a hospital in Noida, UP after a short illness. He was 89. His funeral prayer was offered in Rampur on Tuesday evening.

 

Maulana Yusuf Islahi, who was born on 9th July 1932 , received his primary education in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He memorized the Qur’an and also learnt Tajweed. After passing high school, his father Shaikh-ul-Hadees Maulana Abdul Qadim Khan sent him to Madrasa Mazahir ul Uloom, Saharanpur District of UP for Islamic studies.  Later he joined  Madarsat ul Islah, Sarai Mir, Azamgarh, UP for higher studies and received Sanad Fazilat with distinction (Certificate of Graduation). After becoming a member of JIH in 1953, he held several key positions. He has been a member of  the JIH’s highest consultative body, the Markazi Majlis Shura since long time. He was the Rector of Jamiat us-Salehat, Rampur,UP, a renowned institution for higher Arabic and Islamic education for girls. The Markazi Darsgah-e-Islami, Rampur also ran under his guidance. He was founder editor of a well-known Urdu magazine – Zikra. He authored many popular books in Urdu, which were translated into several other languages including English.  Aasaan Fiqh (Easy Jurisprudence), Aadab-e Zindagi (Etiquettes of Life in Islam) and Sachcha Deen Series ((Islamic textbooks for schools) are his best-circulated books. He used to spend a few months every year in the United States, Japan and Australia to present Islamic lectures.
