Puducherry Muslims protest against blasphemous film

September 25, 2012

Puducherry: The Puducherry All Muslim Association comprising leading Muslim organizations on Sunday held a massive peaceful protest demonstration here against the anti-Islam movie “Innocence of Muslims.” They will also demonstrate outside the French consulate saying the country had constantly criticized the ideology and identity of Islam and Muslims.

Indian Union Muslim League, TMMK, ITJ, Tamilnadu Jamathul Ulama Sabai, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, SDPI and Khudai Khidmatgar had organized the joint protest where hundreds of people shouted slogans against the movie maker and the disrespect to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The protest was led by head of the Association, Maulana Abdul Qadir Qasimi. Speakers raised voice against US and France. Due to the protest shops were closed for some time in the city. The organizers decided to protest near the French Consulate which is in Puducherry “due to the continuous trouble and criticism made by France on the ideology and identity of Islam and Muslims,” said J. Nizamudeen, Organising Secretary, Khudai Khidmatgar.

Khudai Khidmatgar Secretary Inamul Hasan, National Organiser Nizamudeen, IUML incharge Moulana Abdul Qadir, SDPI incharge Barakathullah, TMMK Organiser Fazulullah, ITJ’s Peer Mohammed, JIH coordinator Aslam Basha and various local organisation members participated in this protest.

It is interesting to note here that Khudai Khidmatgar here in Delhi last week had taken a noble route of protest against the film. Its members under the leadership of its national president Fasial Khan had gathered outside American Center and distributed books on the life of Prophet Muhammad among the passersby and the employees of the center. But in Puducherry the group preferred to the path of slogan shouting and demonstration.
