Religious leaders to strengthen mutual love, harmony in the country

Interfaith leaders meet in Delhi.

New Delhi, 9th Feb. 2021: A get-together of the prominent leaders of different religions was organised at the Archbishop House here on Monday to strengthen mutual love, harmony in the country. The function has been organised on the occasion of 40th anniversary of Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto as he was ordained as a priest on this day in 1981.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice President Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer, “last year we faced COVID-19, a natural calamity and succeeded in finding its vaccine. However, this year, another big challenge for the country is the virus of ‘hatred’, which was generated by a section of our society and that will not go so easily. We, the religious leaders, need to come together to work promoting love and harmony. This is the real remedy for the dangerous virus of ‘hatred’.”

The religious leaders Acharya Sushil  Goswami head of the Viswa Dharm Sansad,  Acharya Vivek Muni ji from Jain religion, Giani Ranjit Singh, Chief Granthi Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Dr.John Dayal, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, head of the Jewish religion, Swami Shant Atmanand of Ramakrishna Mission, Sant Veer Singh Hitkari from Sant Ravidas Ashram, Mr.A. C. Michael, a former member of the Delhi Minority Commission, Father Felix John and Mr. Naved Hamid, President All India Muslim Majlis e Mushawarat were present on the occasion.

The leaders congratulated the Archbishop and discussed the role of religious leaders to strengthen mutual love and harmony in the society. The leaders emphasized on the need of working together in the society for inculcating moral values and prayed for the peace, justice, progress, and prosperity of the country.
