JIH Vice President Salim Engineer stresses on need for ‘cleanliness of thoughts’ along with environment and raising voice against tyranny, hatred  

 

NEW DELHI, March 16, 2021: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Vice President Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer has stressed on the need for ‘cleanliness of thoughts’ along with the environment and raising the voice against tyranny and hatred. He said this while speaking at a programme ‘Each Step Towards Cleanliness’ (Har Qadam Swachchata Ki Or), organised by Society for Bright Future (SBF) at the India Islamic Cultural Centre on Sunday. The programme was part of a year-long nationwide cleanliness campaign to make a meaningful contribution towards a ‘Cleaner and Greener’ India.

Speaking on the occasion, the JIH Vice President said, “the campaign will create awareness about the significance of hygienic environment. Every human being loves nature and purity is the hallmark of nature. By setting an example, the campaign will bring people closer to nature. Commenting on the growing hatred in the country, Engineer Salim said, “there is also need for the cleanliness of thoughts and raising the voice against tyranny and hatred.”

In his concluding remarks, SBF president and chairman of the JIH’s Education Board (Markazi Talimi Board) Nusrat Ali said, “For the year-long campaign, we have selected 100 cities and towns from across the country and we will educate people about a healthy environment. We will focus especially on slums and resettlements where basic civic amenities are not available”.

In his presidential remarks, NITI Ayog director Manoj Kumar Upadhyay has said that polluted and unhygienic environment affects human activity and productivity. “Make models or set good examples are a request to all the citizens and the government bodies,” he added.

 

Earlier, JIH general secretary T. Arif Ali and Engineer Saleem flagged off a cycle rally from SBF’s headquarter in Abul Fazal Enclave, Okhla to Mandi House, New Delhi.

Dr Syed Farooq, former MP Mahabal Mishra, Mr.Arif Ali,  AAP MLA  Amanatullah khan,  Acharya Sushil Goswami Maharaj, Father M D Thomas,  Sikh Jathedar  Gyani Ranjeet Singh, Sister BK Asha, radio jockey R J Naved, stand-up Comedian Ehsaan Qureshi and activist Abdul Rasheed Agwan also shared their thoughts on the occasion. During the programme, the campaign brochure was also released by the guests.
