13 Sep, New Delhi: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari delivered the khutbah (sermon) at the Ishat e Islam Masjid located in the Jamaat headquarters campus in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi, on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.
Ameer e Jamaat said: ‘’Today is the day in which we should remember the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and evaluate our lives in the light of his teachings. We must tread the very path which Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) showed us. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) made the same sacrifices as Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) while propagating the message of Islam.
Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) was sent by Allah as a leader and Imam to show the true way of life to the people of this world. And the Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) discharged this holy and noble responsibility in an excellent and honorable manner. The Holy Quran describes Prophet Ibrahim by saying: ‘’ Lo! Abraham was a nation obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the idolaters’’ – (Quran, 16:120).
One of the exemplary qualities of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) was that he was ever ready to obey the command of Allah and always remained grateful and thankful to Allah. The other was that he exerted his utmost to convey the message of Islam although his community left no stone unturned in troubling and torturing him.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was also instructed by Allah to follow the path of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.). The supreme and ultimate sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) solely for the sake of Allah is a shining beacon for the entire humanity. Those who aspire to practice religion should follow the path of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.). They must evaluate their lives in the light of the noble teachings of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.).
Do we have the same feelings as Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) had whilst we cherish the desire for Allah to bless us with children? Have we ever called our kith and kin towards Islam as he did? Only the wise will follow Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.). His way is the truly righteous and one that leads to true success. The message of Eid al Adha is that it is our bounden duty to follow the path of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.)’’.
