Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), has strongly condemned Israel’s air strikes on Beirut and the targeted assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.
In a statement to the media, the JIH President said, “We strongly condemn Israel for carrying out the indiscriminate and barbaric air strikes on Lebanese city of Beirut killing more than 40 people including the Hezbollah Chief, Hasan Nasrallah. We extend our deepest condolences, sympathy, and unwavering solidarity to the people of Lebanon, and all those who are resisting the illegal occupation of Palestine and other sovereign territories by the apartheid and colonizing regime of Israel. This cowardly aggression constitutes a massacre and a heinous crime.
Syed Sadatullah averred, “Israel has used bunker-buster bombs in a densely populated civilian area to destroy the headquarters of Hezbollah. This is outlawed by the Geneva Convention and further proves the rogue nature of Israel. In light of the assassination of Hezbollah’s leader, experts predict an escalation in regional tensions that could lead to a broader regional conflict. We express our deep concern and urge the international community and the United Nations to step in and stop the conflagration in the Middle East.”
Mr Husaini concluded his statement by offering tribute and prayers for the martyrs and condolences to their families”
