Ameer-e Jamaat meets cabinet minister Ajit Singh over Muzaffarnagar riots

New Delhi, September 18: Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind today led a delegation of the Jamaat in a meeting with Cabinet Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh and discussed the problems created by the Muzaffarnagar riots. Ameer-e Jamaat drew the attention of Ajit Singh towards the problems of thousands of people who have become homeless due to the riots.

Ameer-e Jamaat Maulana Umari also urged Ajit Singh to use his influences in Western Uttar Pradesh to help the victims return to their homes with safety and security and to create an atmosphere of peace and communal harmony in the region.

Expressing grief over the situation in Muzaffarnagar, Ajit Singh assured the Jamaat leaders that he would make all efforts to create peaceful atmosphere for the return of the affected people to their homes.

Ameer-e Jamaat, who was accompanied by General Secretary Nusrat Ali and Secretary Mohammad Ahmed, requested Ajit Singh to make efforts as cabinet minister for the passage of the Communal Violence Bill in the next session of the Parliament so that riots could be checked effectively.

Ameer-e Jamaat yesterday talked to senior minister of Uttar Pradesh Azam Khan over phone and urged him to impress upon the state government to execute its responsibilities for security and rehabilitation of Muzaffarnagar riot victims and prosecution of the culprits.
